Citroën CX Buyers Guide

Hello all, I am new here to the Citroën community, so hi all! Ever since I was young I was a huge Citroën fan, just like the rest of my family :). It all began with a Citroën GS Pallas, and then it moved onto 2 Citroën BXs. This is where this wish for a CX came from. Back then, in the old SFRY not many people could afford a CX. I remember my family always wanting one, but it simply wasn't an option. So today (well in a period from now until about 2 years in the future) I want to fulfill this dream. So, for a CX, which years are the best to go for? I want as much Citroën quirkiness as possible and the least amount of problems. Which trim levels are the best to go for? Also, which years of the CX Pallas came with the rear window cover? Thanks for reading and thank you in advance for anyone who is willing to help out!

Guess Alejandro is your real name (?)

So Hallo Alejandro,  welcome here !   I think you will get many very different advices here, as preferences and experiences are very different.  So at least I can only give a kind of  opinion that's definetly not the only truth.   For my opinion the best choice is a CX series 1 of the later production,  let's say production 80 to 85.   I know them as very reliable and a bit less rusty than the older ones,  furthermore they are a bit more "Citroën like" than the series 2.  Just subjective perception of course.

What engine ?   I love the 2400 injection,   very much torque at low rotation,  nice sound,  very reliable.  For my opinion it's the best choice.   But,  actually in western Europe the Diesels are quiet easier and cheaper to get,  and the 95 PS turbodiesel is also a very good choice.  I don't know if in former Jugoslavia you have any restrictions to run a Diesel,  if not - this might be the best choice.

For the 2400 injection or similar,  avert an automatic gearbox - in general this would fit perfectly to a Citroën limouusine,  but unfortunately Citroën used an automatic gearbox which was outdated already when produced and nowadays it's simply bad;  too much rotation speed,  to much consumption,  too much noise.

Hope you find a CX you like,  and hope you stay in this forum and tells us once what you've found.

Good luck !
